A damaged microwave door doesn't always mean the entire appliance needs replacing. At Dorset Oven Repairs, we recently attended a Lamona built-in microwave with shattered outer door glass.

A customer contacted Dorset Oven Repairs after the outer glass panel on her Lamona built-in microwave door unexpectedly shattered.
The glass was bonded to the front of the microwave door, leaving the customer concerned that the entire appliance might need replacing. Rather than purchasing a new microwave, she wanted to find out whether the damaged door could be repaired.
We arranged an inspection for the following day to assess the damage, identify the appliance model and establish whether a suitable replacement part was available.
During our initial visit, we inspected the damaged microwave door and recorded the exact model number to identify the correct replacement component.
After confirming that a replacement door was available, we ordered the appropriate part and advised the customer that we would arrange a return appointment once it arrived.
As soon as the replacement door was delivered, we contacted the customer and scheduled the repair for the following day.
During our return visit, we carefully removed the built-in microwave from its kitchen housing to gain access to the door assembly and prepare for the replacement.

By sourcing a replacement door specifically suited to the customer’s Lamona microwave, we were able to offer a practical repair solution rather than recommending an entirely new appliance.
This Lamona microwave repair highlights how replacing a damaged component can provide a more economical alternative to replacing a built-in kitchen appliance, particularly when the correct replacement parts are available.
